(Saint) Bishop, Martyr (September 29) (5th century) A Bishop of Auxerre in France, who succeeded (possibly after some interval) the famous Saint Germanus in the latter half of the fifth century. The tradition is that he was martyred by the Barbarians, then overrunning Gaul, on the very day of his consecration. But there are grave doubts as to the proof of this alleged coincidence.
