Book of Saints – Donatus of Fiesole


DONATUS of FIESOLE (Saint) Bishop (October 22) (9th century) By birth an Irishman, who, on his return from a pilgrimage he had made to Rome, while passing through Tuscany, was on account of his virtues and learning made Bishop of Fiesole near Florence. He died about A.D. 874 after nearly half a century of Episcopate. He is said to have left some poems, besides prose writings; but nothing of them now remains.
