Book of Saints – Carantac

CARANTAC (CARANTOG, CAIRNACH, CARNATH) (Saint) (May 16) (5th century) A Welsh Prince who laboured under Saint Patrick in the Evangelisation of Ireland in the fifth century. The two Saints, Cairnach (Carnath) and Carantog, are by some identified, by others looked upon as two distinct personages. One of them has left his name to Llangrannog (Cardigan). But it is difficult to disentangle the various traditions.
