Book of Saints – Candida – 20 September

CANDIDA (Saint) Virgin Martyr (September 20) (3rd century) Stated in the Roman Martyrology to have suffered at Carthage under the Emperor Maximinian Herculeus, Diocletian’s colleague; that is, towards the close of the third century. But there is well-founded doubt as to the authenticity of the record on which the entry, as regards the date, is based. For the controversy the Acta Sanctoru may be consulted.
