Book of Saints – Bonitus


BONITUS (Saint) Bishop (January 15) (8th century) Born in Auvergne A.D. 623, he became Chancellor to King Sigebert III, afterwards Governor of Provence and nine years later Bishop of Clermont in Auvergne. After a zealous Episcopate he retired into a monastery, and in the end died at Lyons (A.D. 710), while returning from a pilgrimage to Rome. He is known in France as Saint Bont or Bonet. His relics are in the Cathedral at Clermont.
