Book of Saints – Ansbert


ANSBERT (Saint) Bishop (February 9) (7th century) The Chancellor of the Merovingian King Clotalre III. His wife, having with his consent retired to a convent, he himself took the monastic habit in the Abbey of Fontenelle; and, on the death of Saint Ouen, was chosen Archbishop of Rouen. In his old age he resigned his See and went to die in a monastery in Hainault (A.D. 695). He was buried at Fouteuelle.
