Book of Saints – Andronicus and Athanasia

ANDRONICUS and ATHANASIA (Saints) (October 9) (9th century) Husband and wife, citizens of Antioch in Syria, where the former was a silversmith or banker. On the death of their two children, they agreed to separate, and thenceforth led lives of penance and prayer in one of the solitudes of Upper Egypt. Their pilgrimages to Jerusalem may account for the special veneration in which they were held in Palestine. The precise dates of their deaths are unknown.
