ANDREW and BENEDICT (Saints) Martyrs (July 16) (11th century) Two Polish hermits of the Camaldolese Order, who served God in Moravia and Hungary, living lives of incredible austerity, but comforted by the graces of high contemplation. At length, assailed by marauders, they won the crown of martyrdom (A.D. 1020).
