Blessed Valentín Díez Serna
Profile
One of ten children born to Antonio and Maria, pious people in a small village; they gave their children good religious and secular education. Baptized at the age of three days, made his First Communion in 1923, and was Confirmed on 7 October 1924 in his home town parish. Joined the Franciscan Friars Minor on 29 September 1926, making his profession on 13 November 1931. While studying at Pastrana, he was known as a quiet, studious seminarian with a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Martyred in the Spanish Civil War.
