Profile

Son of Thomas and Vincenza Alcalá Pérez. Joined the Mercedarians on 24 September 1881 at the convent of dell’Olivar, a house that spear-headed the expansion of the Order in the Aragon region of Spain; he make his solemn profession on 3 June 1886. He studied at the Gregorian University of Rome, Italy, and was ordained on 21 December 1889 in the Basilica of Saint John Lateran. Worked in several Mercedarian monasteries in Spain. Served as Father Provincial of the Order from 1903 to 1911. Father General of the Order on 3 August 1911 until 14 March 1914. Martyred in the Spanish Civil War.
