Infant immigrant to the United States with his family in 1889; they settled in Arnaudville, Louisiana. Member of the Apostleship of Prayer League at age 21; he was so devoted to its charism that its said he left a new path along the dirt and gravel roads of the region as he travelled to spread devotion to the Sacred Heart. A lifelong layman, he attended daily Mass and volunteered at his parish church, school and community for 68 years. Received a papal commendation by Pope Pius XII in 1953 for his work. His Cause for Canonization has opened.
